L A – Market Your Website

TASK:

Now that you have built and tested your website, I would like you to market it. Let’s say that your budget is NOK 10 000 (or 1800 $ US). Please do the following:

  • Do some research on what advertising costs. You could for instance contact your local newspaper, print shop and other websites.
  • Make a detailed list of how you would market your website. Remember to keep your budget in mind.
  • What if you had double the budget? Come up with a second marketing strategy, this time with NOK 20 000 at your disposal. (3600 $ US)
  • Come up with a viral idea. It doesn’t have to be a video; it can be guys dancing at the airport in gorilla suits. You can use ANYTHING that is at your disposal. Be creative!

10.000 kr budget

I would market my website Visit Tromsø in Facebook and Instagram ads. Here you can set your own budget and choose how many you reach in the ad.

Buy an ad in travel magazines.

Make a brochure for travel agencies.

Online ads at tripadvisor.

Google Adwords.

CPC, cost per click.

20.000 kr budget

Google search, get as high up as possible on the list.

Adwords, pay for high ranked words.

YouToube, digital ads.

Flyers for cruise ships.

Airport, banners and digital ads.

Facebook and Instagram ads and competitions.

Viral idea

Arrange a Facebook competition. Like tagg a friend who want to win ” a northern light trip for 2″ and share our page on your own. When we reach 10.000 followers we will announce 5 lucky winners. This type of competition can be hold on both Facebook and Instagram and will give a lot of new followers and clicks on the webpage.
